As a Azure DevOps Engineer at LI, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing DevOps practices and pipelines in Azure cloud environments with a strong focus on Secure by Design principles and ensuring adherence to both the good industry and government security standards.  LI Azure cloud services are predominantly PaaS.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including development, operations, and security to enable efficient, automated, secure, and scalable software delivery. This role also involves the management of both proactive and reactive maintenance, break-fix including our of hours on a shift basis, and optimising infrastructure performance and costs, while ensuring continuous service improvement.

You will support the live Azure platform, non-production environments, provide 3rd line support, provision client service requests, and help development teams by offering technical support and guidance.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Break-Fix Support: Provide timely and efficient break-fix support to resolve system issues and minimise downtime in line with Service Level Agreements including out of hours.
  • Proactive & Reactive Maintenance: Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity, perform infrastructure as code optimisation to ensure cost efficiency and reliable service.
  • Security Hardening: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, enforce security policies, and ensure patching and system hardening measures are applied, adhering to corporate Information Security Policies, Azure Security Benchmark and CIS controls.
  • 3rd Line Support: Provide 3rd line support for live Azure Platform services, addressing complex issues and coordinating with internal teams to maintain service uptime.
  • Client Service Requests: Provision and manage client service requests efficiently to support dynamic business needs.
  • Collaboration with Development Teams: Support app development teams with technical guidance, ensuring robust and secure infrastructure is provided.
  • Service Enhancements: Deliver and support the customer’s infrastructure requirements for service enhancements and new projects.
  • Leverage deep expertise in Microsoft Azure’s IaaS, PaaS and SaaS offerings to design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions that align with business and technical needs. Evaluate and recommend Azure cloud native components. Integrate Azure offerings to enhance system capabilities.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with design partners, enabling faster, more reliable software releases.
  • Implement best practices for version control, continuous integration, and code review processes.
  • Use Infrastructure as Code tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates or Terraform to provision and manage Azure cloud resources. Ensure consistent, secure, and reproducible infrastructure deployments.
  • Implement security best practices and align infrastructure with compliance frameworks such as the Azure Security Benchmark, CIS benchmark, NIST, NCSC.
  • Configure real-time monitoring and alerting within Azure to gain insights into application performance and system health. Set up proactive alerts to respond to any incidents and anomalies promptly.
  • Foster strong relationships with software development, testing, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of DevOps practices.
  • Effectively communicate progress, challenges, and solutions with team members, stakeholders, and management.
  • Collaborate on continuous service improvement initiatives to optimise service delivery.
  • Create and maintain clear and detailed documentation for deployment processes, architecture designs and configurations, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Provide training and support to other team members to ensure adoption of best practices in DevOps.


Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • Extensive experience in Azure DevOps managing CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Azure networking and zero trust methodologies primarily working in a live services support.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code principles and tools such as Terraform and Azure Resource Manager (ARM), and experience in provisioning and managing cloud resources.
  • Understanding of security best practices for cloud environments, and ability to implement security best practices and align infrastructure with compliance frameworks such as the Azure Security Benchmark, CIS benchmark, NIST, NCSC.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders and communicate technical concepts and solutions in a clear and concise manner.
