The Role:

Intel 471, a globally recognized technology company, is seeking a Mid-Level DevOps Engineer to join our renowned Cloud Infrastructure team. This role reports directly to the Director of Cloud Operations and SRE and offers the flexibility to be based remotely within the USA.

We're seeking a dedicated Mid-Level DevOps Engineer specialized in AWS and Kubernetes. You will play a pivotal role in expanding our Cloud Infrastructure team, focusing on managing Kubernetes clusters and supporting our developers. This position involves working closely with AWS Services and EKS clusters to optimize redundancy and performance. As a key member of our team, your work will directly influence our developers' efficiency and the robustness of our customer-facing systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Mid-Level DevOps Engineer, you will:

Ensure the reliability and resilience of our cloud-based production and client-facing systems.
Swiftly identify and resolve issues, employing clear monitoring and reporting methods throughout the lifecycle of our production systems.
Develop and maintain uptime for our company's cloud production, ensuring consistent service availability.

This role requires a commitment to excellence and a proactive approach to ensure our systems are always running smoothly. However, we strive to support a healthy work-life balance and do not expect 24/7 availability from our team members. Instead, we work collaboratively, employing a "follow-the-sun" model to ensure global coverage without overtaxing individual team members.

As a Mid-Level DevOps Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the optimum uptime for all of our production and client-facing systems. We rely on you to provide seamless service, swift issue resolution, and transparent monitoring and reporting throughout the system lifecycle.

Specific Responsibilities:

Deploy and Maintain Critical Applications: You will help developers to deploy and sustain critical applications on a cloud-native architecture, ensuring our systems are always up and running.
Participate in Agile Teams: Be part of a dynamic, agile team of independent DevOps and SRE engineers, collaborating to solve complex problems and enhance our systems.
Manage CI/CD Processes: You will design, develop, build, test, deploy, and maintain our continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, ensuring smooth and swift code deployments.
Manage Cloud Infrastructure: You will be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and developing our cloud infrastructure, with a particular focus on AWS and EKS.
Monitor Services and Infrastructure: Utilize tools like Grafana Cloud, Loki, and Tempo for configuring the monitoring of our services and infrastructure, ensuring we have full visibility of our system performance.
Improve Infrastructure: Take an active role in infrastructure improvement projects, such as service upgrades and Kubernetes enhancements.
Support Developers: Provide support to our developers, helping them use monitoring and tracing tools to proactively identify and resolve issues. You will also design automated resolution procedures to streamline issue remediation.
Enhance Performance: Analyze database logs and metrics to improve the performance of our services, ensuring our systems are running as efficiently as possible.

Education, Experience & Qualifications:

We're seeking a candidate with a solid background in a DevOps, SRE, or Systems Administrator role. Your experience should demonstrate:

Experience using Docker for containerization and production-level clustering (Kubernetes/EKS).
Understanding of handling large volumes of data, in the terabytes range.
Familiarity with workflow automation tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Terraform.
Experience with monitoring and logging solutions like Prometheus, Grafana, Tempo, and Loki.
Strong documentation skills and a commitment to knowledge sharing.
Understanding of security methods including SSO, Zero Trust, ACL, RBAC.
Solid understanding of Linux systems.

Would be a plus:

Experience with NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, MongoDB
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MariaDB).
Coding proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, or Golang.
Good knowledge of fundamental AWS building blocks (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC).

The successful candidate will report to our Lead Cloud Engineer and is expected to collaborate actively with various teams across the company. This position can be based anywhere in the USA, with occasional travel within the United States and Europe. Regular interaction with our international team, located in the United States and both Western and Eastern Europe, is a key part of this role, so comfort working with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds is essential.
